Course Description:

This course is a quick revision of the basic rules of Tajweed covered in the previous course QUR111. It adds more practical rules and teaches how to implement them professionally. Additionally, memorizing some of the short Suras of the Quran is another requirement for this course.

Pre-Requisites: QUR111 or Equivalent

Learning Objectives:

  • Students will be able to apply the Tajweed rules learned in QUR111 during their class reading and recitation
  • Students will be able to master the application of the rules learned in QUR111
  • Students will learn new rules of Tajweed and master their application
    1. Rules of the non-vowel Laam أحكام اللام الساكنة
    2. Prolongation أحكام المدود : المدّ الأصلي وكل المدود الفرعية
    3. The Stronger of the Two Reasons قاعدة أقوى السّببين
    4. How letters are formed كيفيّة حدوث الحروف
    5. Nasalization أحكام الغنة
  • Students will be able to recite the Quran with a reduction in accents and in a way that retains the correct meaning and the general rules of Arabic Language
  • Students will be able to read and memorize short Suras in the 30th Juza’ from Surat al-Burooj to Surat al Alaq العلق to البروج
  • Arabic speakers are required to memorize Juza’ Tabarak تبارك in full.

About Tajweed

Grading and Evaluation

  • Minimum passing grade 70%
  • Participation: 20% (attending lectures)
  • Oral exam: 70%
  • Final exam: 10%
